According to multiple reports Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller is considering transferring and Duke has made his list.

Duke has recently become a prime candidate for senior quarterbacks to transfer to. Miller is the second QB to list Duke as a possible destination, the first being Florida Quarterback Jeff Driskel. But will Miller really consider Duke? Will he really choose Duke over an elite program?

Obviously the Buckeyes have found their quarterback of the future in J.T. Barrett who took over the starting QB role after Miller went down with a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder. Barrett emerged as a star in the making and finished fifth in the Heisman Trophy voting. Barrett is young and is looking like he may be a top NFL pick when he is eligible to enter the draft. There is simply no room for Miller at Ohio State anymore so a transfer makes sense.

According to ESPN and Bleacher Report, Miler is interested in leaving Ohio State and joining Florida State but he has also been linked to Oregon, Ole Miss and Duke. If you were to just look at the names of the schools alone you would say Duke has the worst chance of landing him. In a way though it makes sense.

Duke has now attended three straight bowl games and is in desperate need of a QB. Miller would come in and be the starter from day one and would make the Blue Devils one of the top teams in the ACC. Miller has a great amount of experience playing in big time games and has the ability to both throw the ball well and run extremely well. Miller is a more polished passer than Anthony Boone was and would be an upgrade at QB.

The news that Miller is looking to transfer are still in the early stages and are being shut down by Ohio State and Coach Urban Meyer. Meyer said that he has had conversations with Miller and he expects him back at Ohio State.

If Miller does actually transfer from Ohio State I don’t picture him winding up at Duke over Florida State or Oregon but it is always nice to dream. Let’s hope the new years bring us a nice surprise in Braxton Miller but Jeff Driskel isn’t a terrible back up plan either.
