Three Blue Devils Receive All-ACC Accolades

Three Duke Women’s Basketball players earned All-ACC honors for their performances for the Blue Devils during the regular season.
The Atlantic Coast Conference recently announced the 2016-17 All-ACC women’s basketball teams, and three Blue Devils were honored by the league. Redshirt junior guards Lexie Brown and Rebecca Greenwell both earned All-ACC First Team honors while freshman Leoanna Odom was named to the All-ACC Freshman Team.

Brown and Greenwell dominated this season as one of the top teammate duos in the NCAA. Transfer guard Lexie Brown led the Blue Devils with 18.2 points, 3.6 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.8 steals per game. She is a finalist for the top point guard award and is the only player in the country shooting at least 49.0% from the field, 40.0% on three pointers, and 90.0% on free throws. She was also recently named an Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America for her performance on the court and in the classroom.

Redshirt junior guard Rebecca Greenwell is a midseason finalist for player of the year. She averaged 17.2 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game for the regular season. She’s a finalist for the women’s college basketball player of the year award. Greenwell earned all-conference second team honors last season and dominated this year tying the program record for most 30+ point games in a season (3).
Freshman forward Leaonna was selected as a member of the All-ACC Freshman Team this season. The versatile wing is averaging 7.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.3 steals, and 1.0 blocks in her first year. Odom has started in 15 games this season for the Blue Devils and is coming off back-to-back outings scoring in double figures off the bench.

All three players will be key to the success of the Duke Women’s Basketball team in the postseason. The Blue Devils will return to action as three No. 3 seed in the ACC Tournament playing in their first game in the quarterfinals tomorrow against the winner of UNC and Syracuse tonight.
