Duke basketball will try to impress an impressive sniper in late September.

As things stand, all but one 2022 Duke basketball recruiting target has either already taken an official visit to the program in Durham or has scheduled such a trip.

The latest is La Lumiere (Ind.) point guard JJ Starling, who ranks No. 35 overall on the 247Sports 2022 Composite. According to a tweet on Sunday from recruiting insider Andrew Slater, the 6-foot-4, 180-pound sharpshooting four-star will be at Duke from Sept. 24 to 26.

That visit is the last of the four that Starling has planned for the month. The other three are to Notre Dame from Sept. 3 to 5, Syracuse from Sept. 10 to 12, and Northwestern from Sept. 17 to 19.

At this point, the coveted prospect, who originally hails from just outside Syracuse, N.Y., hasn’t named finalists or provided an exact timeline for his decision. And the 247Sports Crystal Ball still doesn’t include a prediction for the JJ Starling race.

Other Duke basketball visitors from the class

This weekend, the Duke Blue Devils played host to Yorkville Christian (Ill.) four-star shooting guard Jaden Schutt. Also, Sunrise Christian (Kan.) five-star small forward Mark Mitchell plans to be in town in mid-October, coinciding with Countdown to Craziness.

Meanwhile, a couple of Duke’s official visitors from June committed to the Blue Devils several weeks ago. Now, Montverde (Fla.) small forward Dariq Whitehead plus Wilbraham & Monson (Mass.) power forward Kyle Filipowski both boast five-star ratings, making Jon Scheyer and his gang the nation’s only staff with two 2022 five-star pledges.

Scheyer & Co. also welcomed Westtown (Pa.) five-star center Dereck Lively to campus in June. Coppell (Texas) four-star combo guard Anthony Black is the only current high school senior who has received a Duke offer but hasn’t set up a visit with the Blue Devils.
