Kansas hopefuls might point to the fact that Dariq Whitehead set his decision date within days of his return from an official visit to the campus in Lawrence.
Yes, one could choose to view the timing as a positive sign for the Jayhawks.
On the other hand, the recent buzz among recruiting experts doesn’t appear to align with that train of thought. Instead, Kansas head coach Bill Self and his assistants wear the “longshot” tag among the three perceived realistic contenders on this list.
In early July, Rob Cassidy of Rivals echoed that sentiment following his one-on-one chat with Whitehead:
"“After speaking with Whitehead at the Summer Hoops Festival over the weekend, I got the vibe that Florida State is the only threat to steal his pledge from the Blue Devils, as Kansas seems to be in a distant third.”"
