The NBA has seen its first blockbuster trade of the offseason as the Lakers traded Duke Basketball star Brandon Ingram, among others, to New Orleans in exchange for Anthony Davis.

The first Woj Bomb of what we could assume will be many this offseason took place on Saturday evening as the Los Angeles Lakers acquired Anthony Davis from the New Orleans Pelicans, as ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported.

In exchange for the All-Star, the Pelicans are receiving Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart, and three first round draft picks, including the No. 4 overall pick on Thursday night.

The Lakers have been trying to land Davis since early in this past season when Davis made it known he wanted to be traded from New Orleans.

Brandon Ingram was the No. 2 overall pick by the Lakers in the 2016 NBA Draft and played three seasons in LA.

Ingram was in the midst of his best season as a professional before a shoulder injury sidelined him after 59 games. The former Blue Devil averaged 18.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game while shooting 49.7% from the field and 33.0% from 3-point range.

In his three years with the Lakers, Ingram averaged 13.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game while making the All-Rookie Team in 2016-17.

The standout in Durham for one season will join a slew of Blue Devils in the Bayou, including Jahlil Okafor, Frank Jackson, and soon to be Zion Williamson, who will be the No. 1 pick on Thursday night in the NBA Draft.

dark. Next. RJ Barrett is major piece in upcoming wild NBA offseason

The Lakers, Knicks, and Celtics were all linked into possibly trading for Anthony Davis, but for Boston, it came down to not wanting to part with its Blue Devil, Jayson Tatum.

As for the Knicks, they did not have nearly enough assets to get the deal done, with its best piece being the No. 3 overall pick in Thursday’s draft, which should turn out to be R.J. Barrett.

More dominoes begin to fall early in the NBA season and it should continue to be an interesting offseason for some more former Blue Devils.
