Chase Jeter, a highly ranked 5-star recruit out of Las Vegas, NV, verbally committed to Duke in an announcement Monday, August 4th on ESPNU. Jeter is a 6’10”, 215 lb power forward prospect with a huge amount of talent, earning many top rankings in various 2015 class rankings including 13th in ESPN 100 (6th at his position), 8th by Rivals.com, 9th by Scout, and 10th by 247Sports.
Eric Bossi of Rivals.com wrote this about Jeter’s talent and how he could potentially fit into Duke’s system, “Jeter can run the floor, he is a very good scorer with either hand around the basket — often via jump hooks — and he has potential to extend his scoring range out to at least 15 feet. A good athlete with a big frame to grow into, Jeter is an outstanding rebounder and a good positional defender. Bigs who have brute strength and bulk can give him trouble at times, but it isn’t anything that a little dedicated work in a college level weight room can’t solve.”
Jeter chose Duke over offers from several other schools including Arizona, Kansas, Oregon, UCLA, and UNLV. While making his decision, Jeter had this to say about why he would choose Duke: “I have a great relationship with all the coaches,” Jeter said. “Coach [Mike] K[rzyzewski], coach [Jeff] Capel. They have great guys, great history. Overall, just a great program.”
Jeter is the second class of 2015 recruit to commit to Duke, and will join fellow future Blue Devil Luke Kennard, a talented shooting guard who is also a 5-star recruit. After bringing in the #1 recruiting class of freshmen for the upcoming season, the addition of Chase Jeter and Kennard combine to form another strong recruiting class for the 2015-2016 season with whoever else will eventually join them.
