It’s an honor to be named to the NBA Draft’s Green Room list. Two former Duke athletes were named to the list. Both Jabari Parker and Rodney Hood are projected to be drafted in the first round. Parker is supposedly going to be drafted as the No. 1 or No. 2 overall pick, whereas Hood is allegedly going to be drafted in the latter half of the Draft.
This year’s final Green Room for the NBA Draft list is as follows: Aaron Gordon (Arizona), Adreian Payne (Michigan State), Andrew Wiggins (Kansas), Dante Exum (Australia), Dario Saric (Croatia), Doug McDermott (Creighton), Elfrid Payton (Louisiana-Lafayette), Gary Harris (Michigan State), Parker, James Young (Kentucky), Julius Randall (Kentucky), Jusuf Nurkic (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Marcus Smart (Oklahoma State), Nik Stauskas (Michigan), Noah Vonleh (Indiana), Hood, Shabazz Napier (UConn), T.J. Warren (N.C. State), Tyler Ennis (Syracuse) and Zach LaVine (UCLA).
See a few names missing? Like Joel Embiid? He was rumored to be on the list a few days ago, but with his recent surgery he was most likely taken off at the last minute. Just because he’s not on the Green Room list doesn’t mean he isn’t going to be drafted in the first round. Just because your name happens to be on the Green Room list doesn’t guarantee an early first round draft pick either. Take Johnny Manziel of the NFL for example. He was named to the 2014 NFL Draft Green Room list and he was drafted as the 22nd overall pick. Alabama’s poster boy AJ McCarron? He was drafted in the fifth round as the 164th overall pick.
I’m no clairvoyant, but I project that Parker ends up getting drafted as the No. 2 overall pick, behind Wiggins, and ends up in Milwaukee. Hood ends up in Chicago, Boston or Phoenix.
