Looking at NBA mock drafts conducted by writers aren’t really helping figure out where Rodney Hood is going to end up. Different mock drafts have Hood landing with the Chicago Bulls, Atlanta Hawks, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Los Angeles Lakers.
The small forward from Duke has been projected as going in the Top 25 according to many of those mock drafts.
At the NBA Draft Combine, Hood measured at 6-foot-9, a full inch taller than what was measured at for the Duke roster. He also posted a 36-inch maximum vertical jump. He also made 69.3 percent of his shots at the Combine. Only three players had a better shooting percentage than Hood, and none of those players are small forwards either.
One thing that could set Hood back is that he has the shortest wingspan of all the forwards who were at the Combine at 6-foot-8.5.
In college, Hood averaged 16.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. He accumulated 562 points over the season, and played for 1150 minutes. He had a .464 field goal percentage and shot over .800 from behind the free throw line.
Hood definitely shined at the Combine, doing better than his season statistics.
The NBA Draft Lottery takes place on May 20, 2014 to determine the pick order of the Draft. Once the Draft Lottery has taken place, for those who take part in creating mock drafts, potentially picking where Hood and the other prospects land might be easier.
