Chalk up another ACC Championship for the Duke Blue Devils, this time, for Duke women’s golf. They completed a three-peat for the school, winning the last three conference championships. Duke women’s golf has also won 19 ACC titles in school history.
Regardless of the weather, the lady Blue Devils faired well, having four of the top five individual golfers. Sophomore Celine Boutier claimed the individual title with teammates senior Laetitia Beck placing second, freshman Sandy Choi placing fourth, and freshman Yu Liu tying for fifth.
“I thought the course played long today with the conditions being both windy and wet,” said Boutier. “My ball striking and wedges were very good. It was helpful on the par five’s and four’s, as I was able to save a lot of pars. I’m very pleased with the way I played.”
Duke head coach Dan Brooks was happy with how the rest of the team played as well.
“I am very pleased with the way we played,” said Brooks. “This is a tough course made tougher by the weather conditions. I’m happy with where the team is now. This is a great place to host an ACC Championship. You can’t run a better tournament better than they do here. The excitement and support that we receive means a lot to the players.”
On Monday, April 28 Duke will wait and see what the NCAA Regional selection show has in store for them.
Currently, the women’s golf team is ranked third nationally, behind the University of Southern California and UCLA.
