Duke basketball commits Justise Winslow, Jahlil Okafor, and Tyus Jones played in one of their first games together on a team this weekend in the Nike Hoop Summit in Portland, Ore. The Nike Hoop Summit is an annual game that is played under international basketball rules. It features the USA Men’s Junior National Select Team playing against a World Select Team.
Winslow led team USA with 16 points off the bench and added six rebounds. Okafor collected 14 points and 10 rebounds. Jones notched six assists, the leading mark for the game, and scored 10 of his 13 points in the final quarter of the contest. Combined, the three of them had 43 points.
“I think it was a great game,” Jones said in a postgame interview. “Both teams played extremely well. Our team just wanted to focus on getting the job done no matter what it took, and that’s what we did. The World Team definitely made us earn it, but each and every one of the guys in the locker room gave it their all so we’re all happy with it.”
“It was a very competitive game,” Okafor said in a postgame interview. “All of my teammates, we were all in the locker room extremely happy. We realize that [USA] lost the last two years here in this game, so it’s a great feeling for us to be a part of this, to be able to put USA back on top.”
