Until we get an official announcement, this should be approached with a bit of caution, but considering that the Grizzlies worked him out this week and are in need of a guard, everything seems to add up.
Curry has been with the Santa Cruz Warriors of the D-League, where he has averaged 21.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 7.8 assists through 12 games, including a five-game stretch where he scored at least 22 points in each game. The rookie also shot 43.9% from the field and 33.8% from beyond the arc.
He will join a sputtering Memphis (11-15) team that has won just two of their last nine games and has virtually no depth at the guard position, with only Mike Conley and Tony Allen making significant contributions. Aside from needing guard play, they are badly in need of a dependable scorer, as their 93.5 ppg mark is 26th in the NBA.
The Grizzlies’ next game, and Curry’s possible debut, will be December 23rd against the Utah Jazz.
