Former Duke Blue Devil and current Charlotte Bobcat shooting guard Gerald Henderson was involved in a bit of a strange incident during the Bobcats’ 92-76 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks tonight.
With 9:51 left in the 3rd quarter, Henderson took a pass, drove into the lane, kicked it out and…well:
According to reports, the fan did indeed go to the hospital, a common occurrence when dealing with ballpark/arena/stadium/etc injuries, but it appears she is going to be okay (you know, aside from cringing every time she sees a basketball for the rest of her life).
In Gerald Henderson’s defense, it was the fan’s first ever NBA game, and I’m sure he just wanted her to have something to remember it by. I would personally love to forever tell my friends about “that one time Gerald Henderson drilled me in the head with a basketball.”
Henderson, being the awesome, bald-headed, loveable dude that he is, made sure to apologize via Twitter:
nailed a lady tonight with a pass.if u follow me on twitter PLEASE tweet me. I know that hurt. I’m not that good of a passer…I AM SO SORRY

Fun fact: between his college and NBA career, Henderson’s highest assist-per-game mark was 2.6; maybe he should work on that passing.
