Head Coach David Cutcliffe has named senior RB/LB Juwan Thompson Duke’s fifth permanent team captain.
It was a well-received move by both the team and fans alike, with Cutcliffe praising Thompson and everything he has done during his time in Durham:

Cutcliffe also went on to say that Thompson is “one of the more unselfish players I’ve had anywhere I’ve been.”
The ‘unselfish’ part has never been more apparent than this season, with Thompson moving to linebacker for a period of time after injuries thinned the Blue Devils out at the position. He has since switched back to running back, but still remains a contributor on special teams.
On the year, Thompson has 40 carries for 199 yards and a touchdown, five catches for 27 yards, and eleven tackles.
Thomspon and the Blue Devils (7-2, 3-2) will be in action on Saturday, as they’ll be welcoming #23 Miami (7-2, 3-2) to Wallace Wade Stadium at 3:30pm (ET).
