The first official USA Today Sports Coaches Poll of the 2013-14 college basketball season was released this morning, and the Duke Blue Devils found themselves near the top, grabbing the No. 4 ranking.

Ranking ahead of the Blue Devils are the Louisville Cardinals – who defeated Duke in last year’s Elite Eight, en route to their national championship title -, Tom Izzo’s Michigan State Spartans and the always-stacked Kentucky Wildcats.

ACC teams joining Duke in the Top-25 include #25 Virginia, #22 Notre Dame, #11 North Carolina and #7 Syracuse. Syracuse and Notre Dame are bother entering their first year in ACC competition, having switched over from the Big East. Pittsburgh also made the switch, but they are currently unranked.

While these early polls aren’t worth much in the long run, they are certainly a strong indicator of the expectations of every team. People have been talking all summer about how dangerous Duke could be with their incredibly talented and deep roster, and that is reflected in their fourth-overall ranking.

Do you agree with Duke’s spot in the poll? Should they be higher? Lower? Sound off in the comment section below.
