Sean Renfree has signed an undisclosed deal with the Atlanta Falcons according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

The seventh round draft pick was one of the last remaining unsigned Falcons draft picks and will enter camp battling to back up Matt Ryan.  Renfree has his name littered all over the Duke passing record books and could come out as a steal in the seventh round.

The expectation for Renfree is to learn under Ryan and fill in in case of injury.  However, a real use of Renfree will likely be as trade bait down the road to a team with a less entrenched starter.

Renfree becomes the sixth David Cutcliffe pupil to make the NFL, of course following in the footsteps of the Manning brothers, Heath Shuler, Erik Ainge, and Thaddeus Lewis.  Lewis currently plays for the Detroit Lions.
