Mark Gottfried: "I can't imagine anybody else being picked No. 1 in the country than Duke"

Who would you put as you’re preseason number one team in the county? Kentucky? Louisville? Michigan State? Well what about our very own Duke Blue Devils.

Mark Gottfried seems to be on board with Duke, acoording to Myron Medcalf of ESPN

“There’s a lot of attention around Jabari Parker, but wait until you see Rodney Hood,” Gottfried said. “He’s that good. They’re loaded.”

For a competing in-state school and fellow ACC member, I honestly have always had a liking for Mark Gottfried. Some could say that he’s saying this because of his ACC bias, but we’ll take it.

That wasn’t a big enough quote? He also made another very bold statement about the Blue Devils.

“I can’t imagine anybody else being picked No. 1 in the country than Duke”

How can you argue with that? Personally, I think Duke has the potential to be atop of the top 25, but not in the preseason. We still have to see what Jabari Parker can do, and see how our veterans perform this year.

Rodney Hood recently got injured, but he’s still receiving high praise from Gottfried. Rodney Hood hasn’t stepped foot in ta Duke game yet, but he still is having high expectations. He has always been what I called the “X factor” for Duke this upcoming season.

We all know about Jabari Parker, so the potential is obviously there.

As for NC State, uh…not very good. They lost about every one of their key players and will now be in rebuilding mode, with the departure of guys like CJ Leslie and Rodney Purvis.

Should Duke be the preseason number one? Let us know in the comments.
