Durham Ranked As Fifth Best College Town For Sports Fans In The ACC

Durham ranks as the fifth best college town in the ACC for sports fans, according to Movoto.com.

This study included a variety of factors, including ticket sales, winning percentage, sports bars, and student population.

I would like to respectfully disagree with this. Duke trailed behind the likes of North Carolina, Marlyand, Clemson, and NC State.

Perhaps Duke football hurts us a bit. We aren’t a prestigious football program in the least bit, so that hurts us in terms of winning percentage, titles, and whatnot. In fact, Duke/UNC came in as the top rivalry in basketball, but came dead last in football.

North Carolina came in first in terms of basketball attendance. Football attendance was different. Clemson came in first while Duke came in dead last. So that’s somewhat of a trend with football.

In terms of conference championships, Duke came in second. Behind, you guessed it, North Carolina.

I disagree with some parts of this study, but I do understand that football hurts us. Please be sure to read this fascinating article from the folks at Movoto.
