Jabari Parker Close To Decision, Father Makes Prediction

Mutliple reports have come out stating that Jabari Parker, the second-ranked recruit in the 2013 class, will announce his decision next Thursday, December 20th. Parker has narrowed his list of schools down to BYU, Florida, Duke, Michigan State, and Stanford.

Parker’s father, in an interview with USA Today, decided to toss his own prediction out:

“He hasn’t told me where,” Sonny Parker told USA Today. “I didn’t ask him. It’s kind of hard to say. He’s liked all the schools we’ve visited. He’s hard to read sometimes. He keeps things to himself, so I don’t put any pressure on him. I think it will probably be between Duke and Michigan State. That’s what I’m thinking.”

While it is a little exciting to hear that prediction, it should be taken with the finest grain of salt the world has to offer. Yes, the man is his father, his blood, and knows far more about Parker than all of the ESPN reporters put together. If you don’t include that last sentence of his interview, however, you realize his prediction is a complete shot in the dark, just like any other analyst:

-“He hasn’t told me where,”

-“He’s liked all the schools we’ve visited.”

-“He’s hard to read sometimes.”

-“He keeps things to himself.”

Basically, Sonny Parker doesn’t have much of a clue about what his son’s future holds, either. I’m not saying he is as in the dark on this as much as we are, because he could turn out to completely right, but, for the time being, don’t get your hopes up too high, Blue Devil fans. While most people consider Duke to be either near or at the top of that five-team list, we won’t know anything for sure until December 20th.
