The most recent AP Poll was released this morning, and the voters have the Duke Blue Devils moving up three spots to the number two ranking following an impressive run through a difficult Battle 4 Atlantis tournament field. On the season, Duke now owns wins over the Kentucky Wildcats, now ranked eighth, the Louisville Cardinals, now ranked fifth, and other very talented teams such as VCU, Minnesota, and Florida Gulf Coast.
Duke is behind only Indiana in the polls now, but the gap between the two teams was drastically cut down, with Duke receiving 18 first place votes and Indiana receiving 47. Both teams face difficult tests this week, however, with Duke facing a very talented, #4 ranked Ohio State team in Durham on Wednesday, while Indiana awaits a visit from a struggling, but still very talented #14 North Carolina Tar Heels team.
In other AP Poll news, fellow ACC member North Carolina State, which has gotten out to a very disappointing start following their extremely high pre-season expectations, fell two more spots to the eighteenth spot following a week where the Wolfpack narrowly avoided defeat against a very poor, 1-5 UNC-Asheville team.
Florida State was the only other ACC team besides the big three to receive votes in the AP poll, picking up ten votes, which puts them somewhere around the thirty-seventh ranking.
