Duke commit Rasheed Sulaimon (Houston, TX, Strake Jesuit College Prep) led the West squad to a 99-95 victory over the East in the annual Jordan Brand Classic high school all-star game. Sulaimon, who was playing out of position at point guard, scored 13 points and added seven rebounds and two assists. Despite being booed by the UNC faithful during pre-game introductions at Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, Sulaimon was able to give Blue Devil fans a glimpse of his potential as a combo guard.
Sulaimon knocked down three three-pointers en route to his thirteen points, capitalizing on his strength as a perimeter shooter. The game featured numerous commits from ACC schools, including game co-MVP Rodney Purvis (N.C. State) and Marcus Paige, J.P. Tokoto, and Brice Johnson (UNC). Sulaimon is expected to compete with Andre Dawkins, Seth Curry, and Tyler Thornton for playing time next season at both guard positions.
