Wake Forest 73, Duke 91

by Duke Blue Devils

Another Duke win. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Recap notes after the jump

  • Andre Dawkins wasn’t anything close to being short of phenomenal last night. He buried seven three-point shots throughout the whole game, and I believe all seven of them were in the first half. He is my player of the game for sure. When Dawkins gets hot, you can’t ever stop him, and he certainly demonstrated that against the Demon Deacons.
  • Speaking of Dawkins, he was also put in place of Austin Rivers on the starting five last night. Rivers looked like his old-self though, scoring 20 points off the bench. Coach K replaced Rivers with Dawkins because of a maturation issue and because he wasn’t playing as hard as Coach thought he should be.
  • Ryan Kelly also looked great. He got a double-double by dropping 20 points, snagging 10 rebounds, and shooting 54% from the field. He would be my runner-up for player of the game.
  • Duke is one win away from tying their consecutive wins at Cameron. If the Blue Devils beat Florida State tomorrow, then that mark will be met.
  • Wake Forest went out there and competed with Duke. I give them credit for that. Although they lost by 18, it was a valiant effort by the Demon Deacons. As we all know, it’s very very hard to win at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
  • Next game for the Blue Devils is tomorrow. It’ll be at home against the Florida State, who beat Duke last year when the Blue Devils were the #1 team in the country. Tip off is approximately 4:00 PM EST. Let’s Go Blue Devils!
