Quincy Miller Visits Louisville

by ACC Basketball Recruiting

It may be the start of football season in Louisville, but Rich Pitino is using the weekend to host four big-time 2011 recruits. They are…Quincy Miller, his best friend and teammate Deuce Bello, as well as California guard Josiah Turner and Bowling Green forward Chane Behanan.

Of the four, the only one I’m concerned with is Quincy Miller. The power forward is the No. 2 ranked player in the class of 2011. He’s also from the state of North Carolina.

Miller is an explosive big man. He’s a monster rebounder, who can also score from just about anywhere. He’s a beast and I’m finding it hard to believe that the ACC schools, particularly the ones located in North Carolina might let this kid slip away.

While Miller was on the Tar Heels radar, it was never really serious. As for Duke, they seemed to go after Miller hard. In fact, I would have listed the Blue Devils as one of the favorites, but since they have already grabbed two big men for 2011 (Tyler Adams and Marshall Plumlee), it appeared that either they weren’t interested in Quincy or Quincy wasn’t interested in them anymore.

At this point, you have to figure Louisville is becoming a clear favorite.

The 6-foot-9 Miller, who attends Westchester Country Day in High Point, N.C., had a long list of suitors that included UK until recent months. UofL moved to the top — along with Baylor — in July. Miller said the main reason he wanted to look closer at the Cards was Pitino and new assistant coach Tim Fuller.

For Pitino, he needs this one…bad. Over at Kentucky, Caliapri has owned the recruiting trail. The Cardinals are on the verge of becoming second fiddle in their own state (if they aren’t already).

Still the question remains…can a kid as talented as Miller really escape the state of North Carolina? Shocking if he does.

That’s kind of a silly statement saying Louisville will be second fiddle in their own state. Louisville and Kentucky are in state rivals like Duke and North carolina. They both have their years. Louisville has been to a final four and two elite eights during the past five years and Kentucky didn’t do anything. Now Kentucky is #1 in recruiting three years in a role (if you includ 2011) so everyone in the country is second fiddle…in their own country. Sounds silly doesn’t it? But Kentucky is yet to do anything. They have the next four years to outdo Louisville but Louisville will not be setting down watching them pass. We’re up and running too.

I would agree. #1 recruiting classes are nice, but I’ve preached for a long time, come talk to me about Calipari when he’s won a championship.

  • Whos your daddy? Battier

Forget winning a championship…talk to me when one of Calipari’s programs isnt on probation after 4 years
